New Beginning–Full-timing in Our Future

December and The Black Pearl is Back in NC

With repairs finished, Ray flew to Arizona and drove our Berkshire, The Black Pearl, back from Peoria, AZ. We can’t say enough about Unlimited Collision and Matt Gorges and his team in Peoria, AZ. They worked with us long distance and the insurance reps onsite to diagnose the problems and make the repairs.
Having enjoyed our RV experiences on-and-off again for more than 15 years, we’ve finally turned a corner and realized that we like the RV lifestyle so much we want to try full-timing. Because we spent 9 months of each of the past 2 years traveling to Newfoundland and Labrador (2014) and Alaska (2015), it seemed all the more attractive to try it full-time.
Of course that meant putting our house in Carolina Trace on the market after shedding the accumulations of 2 lifetimes, what to give away, sell, donate, throw away? So many folks have gone through this process and so we began. Leaving our friends at Trace will be as hard as leaving family. They have been our family for more than 10 years. Until it sells, we’ll return to the house between trips. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen too often.

Now in Florida

We have spent a number of years in Tavares, FL for January through March. Last year we decided to head a bit further South for January. Punta Gorda is our January home. It’s been a good choice. While we were experiencing 38 degrees at night, Tavares was much colder as were the days there.
Three torrential rain storms turned our park into a quagmire. I’m sure Encore wouldn’t want the problems experienced here to continue, but we’ll not return to Gulf View RV park next year. Since we settled here in January with our friends Barbara & Fred Berman, we’ve been searching for a spot we both might visit next year.
Next week we’ll be in Tavares. Let’s hope the weather stays sunny and warm.
