After Cortez, CO we headed north. The drive brought us over an amazing range of vistas. The geography of America must be seen in person to be appreciated.

Martie Barker is an extraordinary woman who, with her husband (deceased), has been a friend since Ray's time in Japan with the USAF. Martie lives in Weki County, Colorado and when she and Art moved to town there was no Boys and Girls Club, so they started one. (The world would be a better place if there were more Art and Martie Barkers in it!) Recently she was given a surprise honor. Instead of having the Boys and Girls Clubhouse named for Art, she learned it was the Art and Martie Barker Clubhouse!

So Much in Cody, WY Reveals the Influence of William Cody

After arriving early at Absaroka Bay Campground, we headed to Buffalo Bill Dam and Reservoir on the Shoshone River. The roar of water being released could be heard from the road as we approached. The Dam was built to help irrigation but it has influenced so much more.

On the way back to the RV we stopped at Old Trail Town, a collection of buildings that approximates the location where Bill Hickcock first laid out the original town site of Cody.

Early the next morning we had a visitor checking out the park. 

Then we headed to Chief Joseph Highway and the Beartooth Highway!

The Buffalo Bill Center of the West still requires 2 days to see all the exhibits. From the Chuck-wagon presentation on the front lawn to the raptor displays on the side lawn
