We arrived on Prince Edward Island (PEI) to some beautiful weather and an OK RV park. A little crowded but not bad. We spent most of our 1st week at Lalia's Mom's cottage helping her recover from a boxed 55" TV at Walmart falling on her foot.
In our 1st week we also managed to attend a couple of farmers' markets and have some delicious meals with Lalia's mother and sister Barbie, including some Crappie from Florida, Haddock, and Mussels from PEI. Lalia's mother was a tough, resilient lady and her recovery was coming along pretty well with the help of Lalia's sister Barbara and Lalia.
Unfortunately, about a week and a half after we got to PEI, Lalia's mother had a major stroke and was taken to the hospital in Charlottetown. She was treated very well at the hospital and once again seemed on the road to recovery, however, she passed away in her sleep almost a week after her stroke. She was a great lady who will be missed by so many.
Our final two weeks on PEI were spent helping Lalia's sister with all the arrangements she needed to make for their mother and getting the cottage ready to be closed for the winter. During our final week on PEI we were able to visit with good friends Janie and Blair, who we have not seen in more than 4 years, and we spent some quality time with Barbara and her two sons Nick and Andrew.
We left PEI on September 8th and will cross the border back to the United States on September 9th when we head to Maine and a weekend with Linda and Dave, friends who winter with us in Florida. Our next blog will be when we arrive back at Fisherman's Cove, Florida, later in September.
We know so many of our friends have experienced the joy Lalia's Mom spread as she navigated a life well-lived. We will tell stories of her escapades/adventures for generations to follow.
