Southbound Once Again - Maine

Our first stop in the USA after Prince Edward Island was a weekend stay with friends Linda and Dave in Steep Falls, Maine . Once again we had a wonderful visit.  Linda and Dave always make us feel very welcome and we have a great time.  Again, we had breakfast at the best one-man breakfast place, run by a guy named Steve who is the most civic-minded gentleman. As a veteran, he honors our flag as we all should. Ask Linda and Dave about his efforts.

After breakfast, we stopped at the Lions Yard Sale Fundraiser.  Everybody needs two band saws, according to Dave. We got a Coleman Cooler that just needed a little TLC to return to brand new status, for a single dollar . Some of the best times are spent doing "nothing special" but chatting, snacking, and drinking (a little).  Great fun! 

Connecticut

From Linda and Dave's we drove to Ashford, CT. to stay at the Brialee Campground with friends MaryAnne and Ken for a few days.

Our time in CT was divided between visiting with MaryAnne and Ken and driving to MA to deliver "PEI cottage items" to Lalia's sister Barbara, and spending a few nights with Ray's cousin Maureen, who is the person responsible for Lalia and Ray meeting many years ago.  Any visit to Massachusetts is special because it's our original home, but staying with Maureen and her dog Lilly means we are staying with family, nothing could be better. We are looking forward to visiting again next month when we go to MA for Lalia's Mom's Celebration of Life.  

The remainder of our CT time was spent with MaryAnne and Ken and they were wonderful hosts.  Each night Happy Hour was a treat and we cannot say enough about Ken's Corned Beef and Cabbage and Irish Soda Bread for the "half way to St. Patrick's Day" meal and all the wonderful snacks prepared by MaryAnne.  We had a great few days and only wish we could have spent more time with them.

NJ - NC - SC - AL - GA

From CT we drove to Clarksboro, NJ for one night at a KOA park and then to Roanoke Rapids, NC for two nights.  In Roanoke Rapids we were able to wash the RV and make some more minor repairs.  We did notice that we also were back into the heat where the temperatures have been close to 90. 

Our next stop was in South Carolina where we planned to spend 4 nights at Lake Moultrie, in a very nice park with some beautiful sunrises.  

While in SC we replaced two relays in the RV after getting excellent service from the Service Manager at the RV 1 Superstore in Charleston's suburbs. We also visited the burial place of Francis Marion, who many of us around in the 50's remember as "The Swamp Fox".  The Swamp Fox was a hero of the Revolutionary War and was glorified by a Walt Disney series back in the late 50's starring Leslie Nielsen.    

As we watched hurricane Ian we decided to stay an extra night at Lake Moultrie trying to figure out what Ian was doing.  After watching Ian we decided to go west toward Greenville, SC for one night and then southwest to a park near Montgomery, AL.  Not much to say about the time in Greenville as it was only an overnight stop.  Our stay near Montgomery was at a much nicer RV park and we were able to do a little shopping and again watch Ian.  From Montgomery, we drove to Lake Park, GA which is about 3 hours from Fisherman's Cove.  Again not much to say about this park as it was just an overnight stop.

Florida

On October 1st we arrived back at Fisherman's Cove to spend the winter with so many friends.  This will be our last update for this trip.  We've enjoyed visiting with many family and friends, and except for the passing of Lalia's mother, we had a wonderful trip.  Thank you all for joining us by following this blog.
